Friedrich Lütge Prize for outstanding dissertations
Since 2005, the Society for Social and Economic History has awarded a biennial prize for an outstanding dissertation in social and economic history. It is named after the GSWG’s founding chair, Friedrich Lütge, who led the Society from its foundation in 1961 until his death in 1968.
The prize is awarded by a three-person jury normally comprising the Chair, Deputy Chair and Secretary of the Society, subject to conflicts of interest. Submissions must not exceed 1.3 million characters, including all components. The prize is worth €1,500.
The review process requires the dissertation—or published monograph or proofs where applicable—copies of the dissertation reports, and a short CV. All documents must be submitted as PDF files.
