Society for Social and Economic History

The GSWG represents the field of social and economic history in public life and in dialogue with education-policy decision-makers.

A highlight of the GSWG’s activities is its biennial spring working conference, where the Friedrich Lütge Prize is also awarded for the best dissertation in social and economic history.

The GSWG also supports the long-term preservation of economic- and social-history research data in the Emporion repository and the work of Women in Economic History to increase the proportion of women scholars in the field.
